MULTICULTURAL GREEK COUNCIL
Established in 2002, the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) aims to unify historically underrepresented chapters on the UW Seattle campus and continues to do so today. In the years since the establishment of the council, MGC is now home to 14 Greek organizations that span across Asian, Latinx, and progressive interests. Built upon the three pillars of Community, Culture, and Academics, members of MGC continually display qualities symbolic of these, while representing the excellence of their respective chapters. As the council expands in size, the Multicultural Greek Council will continue to provide a safe and inclusive space for the expression of diverse opinions and meaningful social relationships.
Greek life at UW is made up of four Greek Councils: Interfraternity Council (IFC), Panhellenic Association, National Panhellenic Association, and Multicultural Greek Council (MGC). Unlike traditional IFC or Panhellenic fraternities and sororities that mandate their membership to reside in furnished houses on Greek Row, MGC’s relatively young status at the University of Washington justifies why many chapters do not have permanent residences. Yet, through numerous social calendar events throughout the year, MGC organizations strive to promote an active campus presence while demonstrating the power of unity among multicultural Greeks with the wider Greek and UW community.

MGC Fraternities And Sororities
PRESIDENT'S ADDRESSHello, welcome to the University of Washington & the Multicultural Greek Council! My name is Alexander Vicuña Perez and I’m excited to introduce you to our community.
Our community, the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), was established in 2002 on the University of Washington - Seattle campus. We were founded to serve and unify historically underrepresented Greek chapters. Over the years, we have grown to represent 14 total Greek organizations, spanning across AAPI, Southeast Asian, Latinx and other progressive interests. As our council continues to expand in size, we aim to provide safe and inclusive spaces for expression of diverse opinions and meaningful social relationships. We do this through our three pillars: Community, Culture, and Academics. These values shape everything we do, from leadership opportunities, to cultural showcases. When I joined MGC in Fall of 2023 through Omega Delta Phi, Inc., I was a first-generation student from a low-income background, in search of a space where I could belong. I found more than that–I found a home. During my time in MGC, I found people who understand my experiences, celebrate my culture, and encourage me to grow into the leader I am today. Now, as MGC President, I have the privilege of helping new members experience the same sense of belonging and empowerment. As a council, we recognize that we could not be where we are without the work done by the National Panhellenic Council, also known as the Divine 9 organizations. These organizations paved the way for marginalized communities to participate in Greek life. We acknowledge the D9 and multicultural Greek organizations for their efforts and goals of empowering members to be proud of their diverse identities. Additionally, we acknowledge the traditional Greek life’s efforts to become more inclusive and aware of its impact on-campus, and continue to work to create a cooperative relationship among all four Greek councils on campus I hope this message finds you in good spirits and raises awareness of our community and values. We look forward to meeting you soon and hope that MGC can help you grow as a person and Husky. If you have any questions, please contact us here. We look forward to seeing you at our events and being a part of your Husky experience. #GoDawgs! Sincerely, Alexander Vicuña Perez Multicultural Greek Council President, 2025-2026 |
